God is the author of the Bible.  Yes, He used men to write it, however, He was in control as to what was written - what He wanted us to know, He included, and everything else, He excluded 1.  It did not preclude personal research on the part of the writers 2, or, even, extra-biblical sources 3At times, He even spoke directly to the writer and had them record what He said 4

Christ Jesus (God the Son) often referred to Scripture in His teaching.  By doing so, He affirmed Scripture to be God's Word, without error.  If that were not true, then He never would have quoted from it, as He did.

What Jesus Said About The Bible:

Luke 24:44

He said to them, "This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms."

(note: the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms were the divisions of the Old Testament)

Jesus began His public ministry by reading from the Scripture: Luke 4:16-21

16 He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. And he stood up to read. 17The scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written: 18"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor.

He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed,

19to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."

20Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him, 21and he began by saying to them, "Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing."

Matthew 5:17-18

17"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.

Revelation 22:18-19

I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book.  And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.
