What does the Bible say about borrowing money, going into debt?

Financial problems occur in our lives when we try to live beyond our financial means.

There is nothing wrong with borrowing money, as long as we are able to repay it without financial hardship.  When we aren't, an enormous amount of time and energy is spent trying to repay our debts and provide for our necessities; it enslaves us.

When deciding on whether, or not, to go into debt, we should consider the following verse from the Bible: The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender. 1
