In Roman Catholicism, the only method of birth control permitted (under their teaching) is that which is referred to as the "rhythm method." There are those, however, who believe that any type of birth control is wrong since it is God who determines the day of our birth, and children are a heritage from Him. (Psalm 139:16, 127:3) In answering your question, we must be aware of the fact that the Bible doesn't speak specifically about birth control (what is acceptable and what isn't). There are some biblical truths, however, which we can use in making a decision (as to what is acceptable and what isn't). It's important to understand that human life begins at conception, not birth (Psalm 139:13-16). This being so, my own belief (based on my understanding of the Bible) is that any type of birth control, specifically designed to abort a fertilized human embryo, or a fetus, would be wrong. |
