Some believe that the world will end when the Lord Christ Jesus returns. This belief is not supported by the Bible however.

In the future, the world will go through a time of tribulation that will last for seven years. At the end of this seven year period, Christ Jesus, along with the Christian Church and the holy angels, will return to earth; the Christian Church will have been taken to heaven just prior to the time of tribulation. When Christ Jesus returns, He will setup His earthly kingdom and it will last for 1000 years upon this earth (This is known as the Millennium or Millennial reign of Christ). Following the Millennial reign of Christ Jesus, our earth will be done away with, or changed, and there will be a new heaven and new earth. (2 Peter: 3: 10-13; Revelation:21:1) It is upon the new earth that the redeemed of God will spend eternity with Him. (Revelation 21-22)
