Also during the time of great tribulation, a world dictator, a world ruler referred to as the Antichrist, will head the revived Roman Empire, and the source of his power will be Satan. Because of this, the inhabitants of the earth will marvel at what has taken place and they will worship Satan perceiving this to be a demonstration of his
power. During this time, the Antichrist will rule over all the nations of the world, make war against the children of God (the saints), and be worshiped by the inhabitants of the earth (with the exception of believers in Christ Jesus whose names are written in the Lamb's book of Life.)
During this time, those who refuse to worship the image of the Antichrist (set up in the Temple in Jerusalem by an apostate religious leader) will be either killed or prohibited from buying, or selling, anything (they will even be prohibited from buying the necessities of life, such, as, food and clothing etc.) To enforce this policy, all of the inhabitants of the earth will be required to receive a mark on their right hand, or forehead, showing that they are a worshiper of the Antichrist. (Revelation 13) Without this mark, one will be forbidden to buy, or sell, however, those who take the mark of the Antichrist will experience the wrath of God.
